Lesson Program

Hoofbeat Hill Farm is home to a small English riding lesson program. Participants can enroll in lessons on a weekly basis (or more frequently, depending on availability) in semi-private or private settings.

No experience is necessary for lesson enrollment. We ask that all participants attend lessons in proper lesson attire:

  • Long pants (leggings or breeches – no jeans)
  • Paddock boots (no rubber boots, please – we require boots with a small heel)
  • ASTM-certified helmet (rentals available)

Semi-private lessons run for one hour in length. Private lessons run for 45 minutes. For those with no horse experience, we will provide on-site guidance to help you get your lesson horse ready for your lessons. If you are able-bodied and experienced, you will be expected to be in the arena at the start of your lesson time – this means arriving early enough to groom and tack up your horse. It is also expected that you will spend time after your lesson to un-tack, groom your horse, and clean up the barn aisle.

As we pride ourselves on teaching a foundation of horsemanship, you may have unmounted, in-barn lessons, either as part of your regular lesson, or in lieu of riding. We welcome all questions related to horses, and encourage you to ask your instructor if there’s any horsemanship topics you want to learn more about. We cover anything and everything related to horses such as:

  • Parts of the horse and parts of the tack
  • Blanketing
  • Equine nutrition
  • Body language & how horses communicate with us

Pricing:
